They say that the Library is the heart of the University. It is true for each of us in our own way. Whether the Library was a spontaneous retreat or a second home for four years, our time there made us more inquisitive, more thoughtful, more dynamic individuals. Supporting students to learn successfully, providing the resources for faculty to excel in research and teaching — these needs are what the Library addresses, every day. Every gift to the Library helps meet those needs, today and for the future.
As a student employee for The Bancroft Library, Mayra Mondragón (’17) processes one-of-a-kind collections of photographs, drawings, and paintings. “I’m thrilled that the work I do preserves art that will inspire students and patrons for generations.”
Francisco Peralta (’18) co-founded EnableTech, a group that uses a Library Makerspace to design solutions that minimize the impact of disabilities. “The tools that students are asking for more and more go beyond the two-dimensional way of learning.”
A gift from Peter Van Houten (’56, ’57, ’73) helped transform Moffitt Library into an interactive space that connects students with information and with each other. “The Library brings people together. My wife and I pretty much lived in the North Reading Room.”
